WYNNE, AR (KAIT) -

One Region 8 school gave away books to children at a Halloween festival.

Wynne Intermediate School gave away 1,000 books during the Village Creek Fall Festival this weekend.

The school's reading interventionist, Shirley Hale, organized the giveaway.

This is the second Halloween they have given kids books and Hale says the parents have given great feedback.

The kids love the books as much as Hale enjoys giving them away.

"It's cool," said Timothy Thompson.  "I got The Haunted Hayride."

Children were thrilled to have the chance to choose a book and the school had something for every reading level.

"I got the Humphrey book and it's about a hamster going to school." said Micah Russell.

The school also provides children, with a free book, on their birthday.
