OSCEOLA, AR (KAIT) - Region 8 News on Tuesday spoke to a man claiming to be Aaron Young, who is being sought by Osceola authorities on kidnapping charges.

The man told Region 8 News that the children's family allowed him to take the two children, but said they did not know he was going out of state with them.

Young said the children's mother passed away on Oct. 15 - the day before he said she asked him to come to Osceola. He also said he believes his name is on the children's birth certificate and that he did nothing wrong.

He also noted he does not plan to bring the children back to Arkansas and that he has spoken with authorities in California.

Osceola Police Chief David Gladden said the count does not know if Young is the children's father and have issued two kidnapping warrants on him.

"I just explained the same thing from where I just left from and you know there were a lot of police officers there," Young said. "If I had kidnapping warrants really out for me, they would have locked me up then and basically talking to them about the situation, and they said if your name is on the birth certificate there's nothing we can do. You are the father."

"If he is listening, we ask him to come in, let's serve his warrants on him, let him tell his side of the story to the court, and let this be worked out in court instead of taking matters into his own hands," Gladden said.

The children were last seen on Oct. 27.
