Citizen donates to sheriff's foundation

BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

An anonymous citizen recently donated a large amount of money to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Foundation, Inc.

According to the sheriff’s office, the citizen donated $10,000 that will be used for things such as specialized equipment and technologies, assistance with professional development of deputies and other sheriff’s office employees, and scholarship opportunities for employees and their dependents.

The news release said the sheriff’s office and the foundation “genuinely appreciate the continual support shown by members of the community.”

The Sheriff’s Foundation is a non-profit that was formed in 2009 as a support organization for the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office and its employees.

The foundation is meant to provide “financial support beyond the scope of the sheriff’s office’s normal operating budget.”

The donations are tax deductible.

The foundation is governed by a non-member, volunteer board of directors.
