Gov. Hutchinson to pardon two NEA men

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson announced Friday that he will grant seven pardons and one commutation of sentence.

He will grant pardons to two Region 8 men.

Richard K. Simpson of Manila was convicted of two felony theft of property charges in 2000 out of Mississippi and Poinsett Counties.

Douglas J. Smith of McCrory was convicted of a felony for possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor for theft by receiving in 1997 and 2002 out of Woodruff County.

According to a press release from the governor’s office, both men met all terms of their sentence and there have been no further criminal violations.

There was no law enforcement objections to either application.
