RAVENDEN, AR (KAIT) -

A community is lending a hand to a firefighting couple who lost their home in an August fire.

The Ravenden community and local firefighters came together to host a fundraiser for Bruce and Shannon Hill.

A live auction, cake walk, and chili supper was held on Saturday night in the Ravenden Municipal Building.

"We would love to raise around $15,000 to $20,000," said Dave Lawrence, a Ravenden firefighter.  "The family is an outstanding family, they have worked for this community, for Lawrence County, and different areas for several years."

Lawrence said the family is always there for others in need and now the community hopes to return the kindness.

"We want to be right there for them and pick up the slack," Lawrence said.

The community raised $6,000 for the family.
