Man dead days after being pulled from burning car

NEW MADRID, MO (KAIT) - A Missouri man is dead days after the car he was driving caught fire.

Jimmie D. Courtois, 66, of Lilbourn died Sunday, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

In the report, MSHP states Courtois was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Impala on a private drive just south of New Madrid when it caught fire on Nov. 3.

Courtois was pulled from the car by a passerby.

He was airlifted to a Memphis hospital where he died three days later.

The man was not wearing a seat belt according to the report.

MSHP did not state how the car caught fire in the report.
