JONESBORO, Ark. (11/7/16) – Arkansas State’s Carlisa May and Mallory Warrington were named the Sun Belt Conference’s Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week and Setter of the Week, respectively, in an announcement by the league office Monday afternoon.

A native of Lee’s Summit, Mo., May led the team with 29 kills (4.14 per set) on a solid .264 hitting percentage in the wins over UT Arlington and Texas State last weekend. She totaled 20 kills against UTA in a 3-1 win before added nine more in a sweep of Texas State. She also added four digs and four blocks on the defensive side of the court.

May leads the Sun Belt Conference with 391 kills on the year with a 3.91 per set average that is also atop the league leaderboard. The 391 kills rank as 40th most in the nation with the kills per set ratio placing 59th. This is her second Offensive Player of the Week award this season and third career. Additionally, it’s her 10th career weekly award after winning seven Freshman of the Week honors a season ago.

Warrington, a native of Lake St. Louis, Mo., handed out 85 assists (12.14 per set) in the Red Wolves’ wins over UTA and Texas State. She dished out 50 assists against the Mavericks before issuing 35 versus the Bobcats. She also tallied 14 digs and 20 digs, respectively, in each match for her team-high 12th and 13th double-doubles of the season. She also had three service aces against Texas State with no service errors.

The senior setter is second in the nation in assists (1,203) and assists per set (11.91) with the 1,203 assists just outside the top 10 for most in a single season in school history. This is her ninth Setter of the Week award this season and 14th of her career. She has a total of 15 weekly awards from the conference in her career.
