PARKIN, AR (KAIT/WREG) -

A Cross County police chief is catching heat after he was caught catching up on sleep in a patrol car.

Parkin Police Chief Willie Frazier confirmed he did take a nap in his marked police car when he was confronted with pictures.

He told WREG-TV he knew exactly when the photo was taken.

"I'd been working a lot of hours, so I pulled up to the store and I just paused for a minute,” Chief Frazier told WREG-TV.

Frazier said he was off duty at the time.

He’s been on the job since June when Parkin got their police department back after dealing with financial issues.

Frazier is also receiving support from Mayor Willie Patterson.
