JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Incumbent Mayor Harold Perrin avoided a runoff Tuesday by defeating five other challengers to win reelection as Jonesboro mayor.
In unofficial numbers from Craighead County Clerk Kade Holliday, Perrin had 48.98% of the vote, followed by former State Rep. Harold Copenhaver with 24.24%.
Perrin was elected in 2008, defeating several challengers and won reelection in 2012 without an opponent that year.
Gathered with family and friends at his headquarters on Tuesday night, Perrin celebrated the win. He told Region 8 that he starts back to work tomorrow.
"Well we are going to start tomorrow on budget," Perrin said. "The budget will tell us a lot of things. We'll be working a lot of infrastructure next year, we'll be looking at a lot of our quality for life projects that we are going to do. We will just go forward and take a look at some other projects."
