U.S. Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas hopes Donald Trump keeps his promises now that he has been elected president.

While on CNN's The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, Sen. Cotton congratulated the president-elect.

He said he’d rather stay in the senate rather than work in his administration because Trump needs as many allies as he can get in the U.S. Senate.

Cotton also mentioned the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel which he believes needs to move to Jerusalem as Trump promised.

“Jerusalem is the eternal and undivided capital of Israel, everyone knows that, everyone acknowledges that,” Sen. Cotton said. “That will be a part of any final negotiated peace agreement between the Palestinians and the Israelis. It's best that we live in the world of fact not in a world of fantasy and in the world of fact Jerusalem is the capital.”

Sen. Cotton also said he supports Donald Trump’s idea of building a wall along the U.S./Mexican Border and called for stronger enforcement of the nation’s immigration laws.
