POPLAR BLUFF, MO - One southeast Missouri man is dead as the result of an apparent drug-related robbery that went bad Wednesday night in Butler County.

Two possible suspects in the death of 43-year-old David Brannum of Harviell are in custody at the Butler County jail, expected to be charged with burglary and armed criminal action.  The charges stem from an incident at a Poplar Bluff residence.

Meanwhile, Brannum died in the emergency room of the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday after an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.  Authorities say Brannum's shooting was related to the robbery, although it reportedly occured approximately an hour later at a different residence.  Brannum was shot in the 700 block of Price Street in Poplar Bluff.  The apparent robbery occured at a home on Wood Street.
