TRUMANN, AR (KAIT) -

The Trumann School District Parent Center is now hosting a support group for grandparents each month.

Second Chance Grandparent Support Group aims to provide advice for grandparents raising their grandchildren.

The group was organized after the school's social worker, Amy Ball, saw a need at the school.

"I'm always looking for students that live in non-traditional homes," said Ball.  "We are very blessed to have a lot of grandparents that step in and take the role of a parent."

She said these individuals are often at retirement age and need guidance.

The group addresses topics such as changing your role as a caregiver, planning for the future and more.

They also give advice on interacting with the legal system and navigating social service agencies.

The group meets on the second Thursday of each month.

If you would like to attend or volunteer as a guest speaker, you can contact the parent center at (870) 438-7850.

Thanksgiving is a time to be with loved ones and enjoy good food, but since that is not an option for everyone, members of the Jonesboro community came together to make sure as many people as possible were fed.
