JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Several stores in Region 8 are hoping to draw in customers with sales ahead of Black Friday.

One store manager said they have a strategy when it comes to the holiday season.

"Right after Halloween, we see that we have to start thinking ahead," said Lauren Tyler, Refinery weekend manager. "A month out we have to say we need to do sales now that way we drive people in before that weekend."

She also said they aim to provide a more peaceful shopping experience for customers looking to avoid Black Friday chaos.

Tyler said despite the big box stores slashing prices, they still have many loyal customers.

One customer said there is a driving force behind the reason she continues to buy from local businesses.

"I like to shop locally because you're supporting families and you're supporting businesses that are there in the community," said Jillian Hurst. "It hits home personally to me, my stepdad owned his own business."

Some boutiques in the area also plan to host open houses to bring in new customers ahead of the holidays.
