Veterans parade held in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Veterans in the community were honored at the Veterans Day Parade in Jonesboro on Saturday.

The parade was sponsored by the Craighead County Veterans Monument Foundation.  

People gathered on Main Street as displays of patriotism took the parade route. 

Many veterans in the community said they were thankful to have the opportunity to attend the parade. 

“It makes me feel proud, we live in a great nation,” said James Mashburn who served in the Vietnam War.  “I’m so glad that I’m part of it and was able to serve my country.”

Mashburn brought his grandchildren to the parade and said that they ask him about his experience during Vietnam often.

Major Brian Mason of the ASU ROTC program emceed the parade ceremony, and Congressman Rick Crawford was a guest speaker.

    According to Jackson County Sheriff's Captain Ricky Morales, 40-year-old Rickey D. Crawford Jr., of Tuckerman, was arrested in relation to the death of 33-year-old Amanda Michelle Crawford.
