JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

While Elvis Presley may have had a “Blue Christmas,” KASU and the Collins Theatre in Paragould will host a “Bluegrass Christmas.”

The Bluegrass Martins will perform a special concert of Christmas music on Monday, Nov. 28, at 7 p.m. at the theater, 120 West Emerson St.

The concert is part of KASU’s Bluegrass Monday concert series.

The station will literally “pass the hat” to collect money to pay the group. The suggested donation is $5 per person.

Formerly known as The Martins, the family band from Jefferson City has been performing since 2001. In the last 13 years, they have received dozens of awards and been named Instrumental Band of the Year by the Midwest Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America an unprecedented 12 times.

More information about the band is available on their website.

Bluegrass Monday concerts are held on the fourth Monday of each month. They are presented with support from Bibb Chiropractic, Posey Peddler, Holiday Inn Express and Suites of Paragould, the Northeast Arkansas Bluegrass Association, and KASU-FM.

For more information, contact KASU Program Director Marty Scarbrough at mscarbro@astate.edu or 870-972-2367.
