Arrest made in Dollar General robbery

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - 4:26 p.m. UPDATE: A video of a holdup that aired Monday morning on KAIT helped make the arrest of a man accused in two robberies, police said Monday.

Numerous law enforcement agencies recognized Casey Lewis, 22, of Jonesboro from the video as well as still photos from the robbery were posted by other media. Jonesboro police spokesman Paul Holmes said the video showed a lone gunman entering the store and demanding that employees fill a bag that he provided with money from till.

The man, who was armed with a handgun, then left the store on foot, Holmes said.

Lewis is expected to appear in court Tuesday for a probable cause hearing and will face two counts of aggravated robbery in connection with both cases, Holmes said.

4:20 p.m. UPDATE: A Jonesboro man was in custody Monday afternoon after his arrest in connection with a pair of robberies at the Dollar General store on North Church Street.

Casey Lewis, 22, of Jonesboro was arrested on suspicion of two counts of aggravated robbery, police said, noting tips from the public helped make the arrest happen.

Lewis was being held in connection with a Nov. 9 robbery as well as a robbery Monday morning at the same store.

There has been an arrest in the Monday morning robbery of the Dollar General store on North Church Street, according to Paul Holmes of the Jonesboro Police Department.

Not much information has been released besides the arrest.
