JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A woman accused of abusing a corpse and Social Security fraud earlier this year pleaded guilty Monday afternoon in Greene County Circuit Court, Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington said.

Gloria Tensley, 66, of Paragould was sentenced to three years in the Arkansas Department of Correction in a plea agreement, Ellington said, noting eight counts of Social Security fraud were dropped in exchange for the guilty plea.

Tensley was arrested after a roommate found the skeletal remains of Clarence Shanowat at Tensley's home in Paragould. Police believe Shanowat died of natural causes, but Tensley did not report the death so she could continue collecting Shanowat's Social Security disability benefits, Ellington said.
