Trumann man killed while walking on road

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

3:00 a.m. UPDATE: Arkansas State Police have confirmed the man hit by a pickup truck has died.

According to a preliminary crash report, 45-year-old Richard Timbs of Trumann was taken to Regional One in Memphis where a doctor later pronounced him dead.


8:39 p.m. UPDATE: A person was taken to a hospital Monday night after being struck by a pickup truck, according to the Arkansas State Police. 

Trooper Dwight Griffith told Region 8 News that the person was walking along the north shoulder on Arkansas 69 near Trumann about 5:25 p.m., when they were struck by a GMC Sierra pickup truck. Griffith said the truck was going south on Arkansas 69 when the accident happened. 

There was no word on the condition of the person struck by the truck. Griffith said no citations were issued. 


6:38 p.m. UPDATE: The Arkansas State Police are now working the accident at the Craighead/Poinsett County line, Trumann Police Chief Chad Henson said. 


According to a Trumann police dispatcher, officers were at the scene of an accident near Cash Road.
