Arkansas - The number of mumps outbreaks has risen dramatically across the state in the past several weeks.
According to the Arkansas Department of Health, there are now 1,230 confirmed cases of mumps across the state as of last Thursday, nearly double from the 769 reported on Oct. 26.
Most of the cases remain in northwest Arkansas; however, there are other cases in central Arkansas.
The department said there are five schools and 21 workplaces affected, including the University of Central Arkansas, which warned students through a tweet there were a few unconfirmed cases of mumps involving students living off campus.
