LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT) - The tourism industry in Arkansas has followed the motto of "slow and steady wins the race," according to Talk Business and Politics.
The industry began seeing healthy gains in the second half of 2015, but the pace of growth has slowed. However, Talk Business and Politics noted it remains on pace for record growth.
The state's hospitality tax revenue was up 3.75% from January to August 2016, compared to the same time in 2015, but was down from the 5.7% growth in the first four months of the year.
There was also a 3.12% increase in collections from the state's 2% tourism tax, while tourism jobs grew over 4% in the first eight months of the year, compared to 2015.
