LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT) -

Arkansas State University system president Dr. Chuck Welch was named Wednesday to the American Association of State Colleges and Universities board of directors for 2017.

Welch was one of seven new members elected at the AASCU annual meeting on Nov. 1.

The group is a Washington, D.C.-based higher education association of more than 400 public colleges, universities, and systems whose members share a learning- and teaching-centered culture, a historic commitment to underserved student populations and a dedication to research and creativity that advances their regions’ economic progress and cultural development.

“I’m honored to serve this outstanding organization,” Welch said. “I’ve been an active member of this professional association during my five years with ASU and previously while at Henderson State. Our members benefit from discussing common opportunities and challenges, and we serve as an important national voice for higher education.”

In a national survey, Kars 4 Kids revealed Arkansas drivers rank 48th in the country when it comes to having courteous drivers.  I have to say, I'm not surprised.
