LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT/KARK) - A new weather satellite that will launch Saturday afternoon will be able to scan twice as quickly over small areas, helping to forecast storms much quicker, officials said Wednesday.
According to KARK-TV in Little Rock, the GOES-R satellite will help with weather monitoring. The satellite will provide resolutions four times greater and provide coverage five times faster than other weather satellites.
Both NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are working together on the project.
