BROOKLAND, AR (KAIT) - A special education teacher at Brookland Elementary is using bean bag chairs, stress balls and a trampoline to get students ready to learn.

Chrisy Young said her classroom is not an ordinary one, with the goal of using each of the five senses a key priority. The children have responded, Young said.

"If you see that a child is having difficulty paying attention or difficulty completing a task, then you can say hey go spin for a minute and then come back. And it's very effective," Young said.

The new teaching techniques help giving the students a break and helps them to refocus, Young said, noting other teachers at Brookland Elementary are using the exercises in their classroom.
