JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A woman who was housesitting thought she was the only one in the home. She was wrong.

The woman was staying at a house in the 4000-block of Kents Place when she heard a noise at 1 a.m. Thursday.

The woman told Jonesboro police she sat there for a moment, then heard a knock.

She went downstairs and opened the door. But, no one was there.

When she went back upstairs, she heard someone knocking on the wall.

No one else, according to the report, was supposed to be at the house.

The woman asked, “Who is it? Where are you?”

A man in the attic replied with his name and said he would be under the carport.

The victim went to the carport and saw a man jumping out of a hole in the ceiling.

The named suspect, described as a 5’3” white male weighing approximately 135 pounds, then ran off.

Police called to the scene observed two large holes in the carport ceiling and footprints where someone had been in the attic.

Officers spoke with the renter, who was out of town, and said the woman should be the only one at the house.

Police have increased patrols in the neighborhood.
