JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

The Valley View Church of Christ is working to make sure no family is without dinner on Thanksgiving.

On Saturday the church delivered groceries to 330 families in Region 8.

The effort is something the church has been doing for nine years and each year it grows.

"We started with around 75 to 100 names when I first got involved," said Deacon Matt Nix, who has been working with the project for seven years.

"At this point, we are delivering to about 330 families, and we'll have more as the week goes on," said Nix.

Nix said throughout the week of Thanksgiving, the church expects to deliver 75 more bags of food to other families in need.

The effort is organized by church leaders and each year they collect donations from members of the congregation.

"We are finding a way to show a little bit of God's love from us to people in the community," said Nix.
