TULSA, Okla. (AP) - A freeze warning is in effect for much of Oklahoma and Arkansas as dry, arctic air blankets the region.

The National Weather Service says the warning will remain in effect from midnight until 8 a.m. Sunday. Forecasters say temperatures will dip into the upper 20s to the lower 30s overnight.

The freeze warning covers most of central and eastern Oklahoma as well as central Arkansas with a hard freeze expected in northern and western Arkansas.

Forecasters say the freezing temperatures could kill sensitive plants and cause outdoor water pipes to burst.

On Friday, the National Weather Service issued a blizzard warning for eastern parts of North and South Dakota and western Minnesota, as well as winter storm warnings for other parts of those states and Nebraska.
