RANDOLPH COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

A Randolph County woman will spend the next three decades in jail after a prosecuting attorney says she pleaded guilty to murder.

Kathy Jane Hart, 55, of Maynard was sentenced to 30 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction after entering a guilty plea to murder in the second degree on Nov. 18, according to a news release from Third Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Henry Boyce.

Just over one year ago, the body of Hart's ex-husband, John Hart, was discovered on the side of Harper Cemetery Road near Stokes.

Investigators later arrested Kathy Hart for murder.

“We are pleased that the defendant has admitted her guilt in this case and spared her own family the burden of enduring what would no doubt have been a terribly emotional experience at trial.  Mr. Hart’s family, as well as all three children of John and Kathy Hart, have consented to the terms of this plea agreement,” Boyce said as part of Monday's release.
