JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Tennessee woman was arrested this week in a case where the people she was with replaced items with more expensive merchandise, then bought the items at retail, Jonesboro police said Wednesday.
Teresa Latisha White of Memphis was arrested on suspicion of felony shoplifting and engaging in a continuing criminal gang, organization or enterprise in connection with a nearly year-long investigation.
According to Jonesboro police, officers went to Target, 3000 East Highland Drive, on Jan. 27. While there, police spoke to store protection specialist Adam Stanage.
Stanage told police the incidents happened Jan. 16 and Jan. 19, 2016.
"Stanage stated that two of the subjects would enter the store and find a specific item, a diaper genie and remove it from its original container and place various items in the diaper genie box, then staged the box at a different location in the store," Officer Alexandria Duncan said. "Then the third subject would enter the store, find the diaper genie box with the various items in it and purchase it for the retail price of the diaper genie."
Police believe White drove the vehicle used in the shoplifting case.
