Foodborne illnesses can pack punch at Thanksgiving, doctor says

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

What can go wrong when you're enjoying your Thanksgiving feast?

Apparently, a lot, so says a local doctor.

Dr. Timothy Dow with St. Bernard's said Wednesday that people should pay close attention to what is on the table and how long it has been there.

"As far as your food, don't leave it out at room temperature for over an hour or so. A lot of the buffet style eating that we do on the holidays, people eat lunch and don't necessarily put their food away and then eat dinner out of the same food and we see some food poisonings," Dr. Dow said.

The doctor also recommended that people stay home during the holiday if they do not feel well.
