BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

A Baxter County man was killed in a 3-car crash after a driver attempted to pass another on a foggy road, authorities said Thursday.

According to an Arkansas State Police crash report, two vehicles, a Buick and Ford were driving south on Highway 5 in Baxter County Wednesday morning.

The Ford, according to the report, attempted to pass the Buick and hit a third vehicle traveling in the northbound lane.

The driver of the Buick, 87-year-old Gerald Lenard of Lakeview, swerved to avoid the collision, ran off the road and hit a concrete culvert.

Lenard was killed in the crash.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were injured in the collision. They were taken to Baxter Regional Hospital to be treated.

The crash report indicated that it was foggy at the time of the wreck and the roads were wet.
