An Alabama man was being held Thursday in the Craighead County Detention Center after he reportedly got into a fight with a man in a parking lot and threatened people with a revolver, Jonesboro police said.

Crawford Andrew Burrell of Helena, Alabama, was arrested early Wednesday on suspicion of aggravated assault after police went to the 100 block of Main Street near Creegan's.

A witness told Officer Christopher Pigg she had locked herself out of her car and was trying to get into the car when she noticed Burrell. The woman told police that Burrell had been rude and was using racial epithets.

"People had asked Burrell to leave, and he pulled out a small, silver handgun and began to wave it around in multiple directions, making the statement, 'I'll take care of things'," Pigg said.

Before that, Burrell also reportedly got into the fight with a person in the parking lot as witnesses helped to hold down Burrell as police arrived.
