BROOKLAND, AR (KAIT) - Danny's Country Diner in Brookland gave those in need a free meal on Thanksgiving.

The restaurant has been feeding the hungry on the holiday for nearly five years now with the help of food donations from the community.

Owners Lisa and Danny Hathcoat say they merely want to give back to those less fortunate.

"I just feel like the Lord just told me to do this and he's blessed us and we want to spread the blessing," said Danny Hathcoat. "That's just what we're supposed to do as Christians is help fellow people."

"It makes me feel good to help people," said Danny Hathcoat.  "To be a blessing and pass on a blessing," added his wife Lisa.

Each year during the meal they also ask for community donations for a special cause.

This year, they raised money to purchase car seats for the Brookland Police Department.

The department also helped in delivering meals to shut-ins around the area.
