Man arrested after pursuit

LEACHVILLE, AR (KAIT) - A man was arrested Sunday after a chase, Leachville Police Chief Joni Isebell said.

Jonathan Brent McGhee was arrested on suspicion of driving on a suspended license after the pursuit reached 90 mph, Isebell said.

Isebell said Officer Brandon Womack noticed McGhee getting into the driver's seat of a gold Chevrolet Impala at a convenience store in Leachville.

"Officer Womack knew McGhee to have active warrants out of the Leachville Police Depatment and out of the Craighead County Sheriff's Office, and also knew him to be driving on a suspended driver's license," Isebell said.

Womack tried to pull over McGhee but McGhee failed to stop heading into Missouri, Isebell said.

"Approximately one mile north of the Missouri state line, suspect (McGhee) locked his brakes on his vehicle causing Womack to crash into his vehicle. McGhee was taken into custody, and transported by Emerson ambulance service," Isebell said.
