CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A Region 8 sheriff's office decided to participate in No Shave November for a good cause.
Deputies with the Craighead County Sheriff's Department donated to Habitat for Humanity as they grew out their beards during the month.
In total, 37 deputies participated and raised over $1,000 for the non-profit organization.
Executive Director for Habitat of Humanity for Greater Jonesboro Michael Sullivan said that money will help change lives.
"Every home that we can build for a family, it only impacts that family from the community at large," Sullivan said. "And so we truly build up the community through a hand up, not a hand out. So it's important that everyone in the community has a willingness to give in order for us to do that each year."
Sullivan expressed gratitude toward the department for helping out.
"I thought it was awesome," he said. "The community is so creative and they always give back in so many different ways so for the sheriff's office to step up and do this for Habitat for Humanity was an amazing opportunity for us and we are thankful that they did that."
The Habitat of Humanity for Greater Jonesboro is currently building their 19th house, which should be completed within the next four months.
Craighead County Sheriff Marty Boyd said the department also plans to do a group build with the organization.
