PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) -

Nearly 15 different clubs and organizations at Greene County Tech High School are gearing up this week for a Christmas competition that will help serve the elderly in Paragould.

Students are preparing for a door decorating contest to go in the halls of Sunshine Manor Nursing Home in Paragould.

Student Council Advisor Nancy Mangrum says she wants the students to learn how to let senior citizens know they are loved and not forgotten.

"As younger individuals, we need to give back to our community. We need to pay it forward to those that are less fortunate and we just need to help each other. Everyone need a hand up someday and a pat on the back," Mangrum said.

The lesson of giving is also supported by students.

"You are never too cool to help other people out and make somebody else day it benefits you just as much as it does the other person," Emma Reddick, GCT Student Council member, said.

The students will start decorating Thursday afternoon and will continue Friday afternoon.

The judging of the contest will take place Saturday at noon.
