JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Arkansas State Police are accustomed to solving crimes. But on Thursday night officers with Troop C found themselves calling on Jonesboro police when they became the possible victims.

Around 8 p.m. a dispatcher spotted on surveillance video a heavyset man wearing glasses walking near the ASP headquarters, 2216 Browns Lane, and notified troopers.

When the first trooper arrived five minutes later he found the back door standing open. He checked the area, according to the Jonesboro Police Department’s incident report, but was unable to find anyone or anything unusual.

Other troopers arrived soon after and began examining the building. That’s when they discovered the hydraulic arm to the back door was unattached.

The troopers were unsure if this was new damage or had been that way for a while, the report stated.

The inside of the building appeared undisturbed, but one trooper believed a small amount of change was missing from a jar in the break room.

There was no sign of forced entry.
