(KAIT) -

A non-profit organization born out of a mass school shooting has released a public service announcement to prevent gun violence.

The video titled "Evan" was released on Dec. 2 by Sandy Hook Promise via YouTube.

The video follows a boy named "Evan" as he develops a new friendship when school comes to a close.

A deeper message looms and is revealed at the end of the video.

The Sandy Hook Promise website states the organization is a national non-profit "founded and led by several family members whose loved ones were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012."

On that day, 20-year-old Adam Lanza killed 20 children and six adults at the Newtown, CT school. Lanza also killed his mother at their home before the school shooting. He would later shoot and kill himself.
