Red Cross urges blood donation as 'perfect gift'

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

It can’t be wrapped or placed under a tree, but the American Red Cross says the perfect gift this holiday season could save lives.

The Red Cross urges eligible donors to give a blood donation in December.

Donors of all blood types are needed to help ensure a sufficient supply for hospital patients, according to the organization. To encourage donations, all who donate between Dec. 22 and Jan. 8 will receive a long-sleeved Red Cross t-shirt, while supplies last.

Donations can be made at the following locations and dates:

Clay County

  • 12/29:  2 to 6 p.m. First United Methodist Church, 600 Pine St., Corning

Craighead County

  • 12/17-12/18:  8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jonesboro Blood Donation Center, 1904-A Grant St., Jonesboro
  • 12/19-12/22:  10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jonesboro Blood Donation Center, 1904-A Grant St., Jonesboro
  • 12/24-12/25:  8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jonesboro Blood Donation Center, 1904-A Grant St., Jonesboro
  • 12/27-12/29:  10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jonesboro Blood Donation Center, 1904-A Grant St., Jonesboro
  • 12/31:  8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jonesboro Blood Donation Center, 1904-A Grant St., Jonesboro

Greene County

  • 12/22:  11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, 900 W. Kingshighway

Independence County

  • 12/16-12/17:  12 to 5 p.m. Walmart, 3150 Harrison, Batesville
  • 12/21:  12 to 5 p.m. Walmart, 3150 Harrison, Batesville
  • 12/27:  12 to 4 p.m. Citizens Bank, 200 S. 3rd St., Batesville

Lawrence County

  • 12/30:  2 to 6 p.m. Imboden First United Methodist Church, 113 North Main, Imboden
  • 12/28:  12 to 5 p.m. Lawrence Memorial Hospital, 1309 West Main, Walnut Ridge

Randolph County

  • 12/26: 2 to 6 p.m. Walmart, 1415 Hwy. 67 South, Pocahontas

Sharp County

  • 12/29:  10 a.m. to 3 p.m. FNBC, 636 Ash Flat Dr., Ash Flat
  • 12/27:  1 to 5 p.m. Cherokee Village United Methodist Church, 21 Otter Dr., Cherokee Village
