Berry Blasts House Leadership for Refusing to Support the Troops

WASHINGTON - First District Congressman Marion Berry today criticized the leadership of the U.S. House of Representatives today for blocking three key amendments to the Defense Authorization bill that Berry says would improve healthcare and retirement options for men and women who have served in the U.S. military.  The House Leadership refused to bring the amendments to the floor despite efforts by some Democrats to include them in the bill.

"I have had enough of the Republican Party's empty rhetoric and broken promises," said an angry Berry.  "If we can spend the money to send these men and women into harm's way, we can certainly afford to take care of them when they return home to their families."
