JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A woman in Region 8 received a helping hand from a man who says he was simply following his heart.

Ron Hill is a weatherization crew leader at Crowley's Ridge Development Council and says he often sees people who are struggling financially.

Recently while working, he met a woman who was in need of food.

"I was moving a refrigerator and the door came open and I noticed she had nothing," said Hill.  "We were doing some other stuff and her cabinets didn't have food in it, had a little bit but not enough."

Hill said he felt compelled to intervene so he went to a local food bank after work that day.

The next day, he delivered the food to the woman who was overjoyed.

"She thanked me and she blessed me," said Hill.

Hill said he plans to continue giving back in whatever way he can.

He also added he hopes everyone who feels led to give to those in need will do the same this holiday season.

As a result of the good deed, CRDC gave Hill the employee of the month award.
