BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) -

Blytheville Fire Department confirmed to Region 8 News they battled a house fire in the 2900-block of Highway 150 East in Mississippi County on Saturday.

According to Blytheville Fire Chief Mike Carney, they were dispatched around 2:30 p.m. regarding a two-story home that was on fire.

Firefighters entered the home and tried to make it up to the second floor, but the stairwell was already destroyed. Firefighters exited the home and then worked to protect the house next door from catching fire.

Carney said it was too dangerous for the firefighters to go back into the home because the second level's floor was falling in.

No one was in the home at the time of the fire and no injuries have been reported.

The Gosnell Fire Department assisted BFD at the scene.

The American Red Cross came to the scene to help the people living in the home.

As of Saturday night, the cause of the fire is undetermined.
