LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT/KARK) - Undocumented immigrants in Arkansas could soon be provided with healthcare under federal regulations.

According to KARK, federal laws require states to give those suspected of being ineligible to receive Medicaid benefits because of their immigration status 90 days to provide the proper documents needed.

On Tuesday, lawmakers found out Arkansas is the only state in the U.S. that has not fully complied.

Even though less than 10 percent of people are incorrectly flagged as ineligible, it could cost the state almost $10 million during the next fiscal year by extending the grace period.
