JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - An event held Wednesday in Jonesboro provided family members who have lost loved ones an opportunity to remember them and their life.
The annual Moments of Remembrance ceremony took place at St. Bernards Auditorium Wednesday. About 100 people lit candles and hung ornaments on trees to remember their loved ones.
Tammy Zagala of Jonesboro said the event Wednesday has helped her with remembering her husband, Michael, and to thank the people who helped take care of him.
"It makes me feel content and I know that during the time my husband was at Hospice House, how well he was taken care of and loved," Zagala said. "And it just gives me peace."
As part of the event, every family was encouraged to bring a Christmas ornament in memory of their loved one. The ornaments were placed on a celebration tree, which will be on display at St. Bernards Hospice throughout the holiday season and into the future.
According to hospital officials, the hospice was created in 1989 to provide holistic care for patients with life-limiting illnesses. The patients are given care, either at their home or at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
