JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A Texas woman was being held Thursday in the Craighead County jail after she reportedly threw a knife at her cousin for not bringing cigarettes back from the store, Jonesboro police said.

Mystic Thomas of Killeen, Texas was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault after police went to an apartment in the 3300 block of Caraway Commons around 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Officer Nicholas Dumond said he spoke with the victim, Tamara Lansdell, about what happened.

"She stated that it all started when she arrived home from buying a soda from the gas station. She (Lansdell) stated as soon as she opened the front door of the residence, Thomas started in on her, yelling and cursing at her," Dumond said. "Lansdell then stated Thomas then started to throw knives."

Dumond later interviewed Thomas, who told police Lansdell tried to push her into a wall.

"Thomas then stated they did 'wrap up' but never actually hit each other," Dumond said. "When asked about the knife, Thomas stated that at one point, she did pick up a knife but she never chased anyone; she only held it up."

However, another witness, Venus Quinonez, told police Thomas was already mad over Lansdell not bringing the cigarettes.

"(Quinonez) then stated that it started out verbal only but quickly escalated when Thomas grabbed multiple knives and started to throw them around the apartment," Dumond said. "Quinonez stated that one of the knives almost struck her."

Thomas was in jail awaiting a probable cause hearing.
