Man found asleep in stranger's bed arrested

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Jonesboro man returned home early Friday morning to find a stranger asleep in his bed, and it was not Goldilocks.

Instead, police said it was 19-year-old Samuel Owens Ezell who is now charged with criminal trespass, criminal mischief, and public intoxication.

According to the incident report, Ezell entered the home in the 600-block of Dogwood through a small pass-through, used for storing wood, beside the fireplace.

Once inside, the suspect went into the downstairs bathroom where he is alleged to have vomited on the floor and shower. He also tore down the shower curtain, the report said.

Police said Ezell then climbed into the victim's bed, dressed only in his underwear, and fell asleep.

It took officers multiple attempts to wake Ezell. When they did, they could "smell a strong odor of intoxicants" and said his speech was "slurred."

According to the report, a "disoriented" Ezell kept telling police he was at a friend's house, but could not tell them the address.

Officers arrested him and took him to the Craighead County Detention Center where he was left on a $725 surety bond.
