DUNKLIN COUNTY, MO (KAIT) - Several Dunklin County residents took shelter on Saturday night as severe storms rolled through the area.
Two Senath residents said they had not seen such severe weather in years and immediately knew they needed to prepare for the worst.
"We had looked at each other and thought it was a tornado," said Jamal Guiton, an employee at Casey's General store.
Guiton and his co-workers immediately took shelter in the store's cooler.
"Everybody's phones were going off," said Guiton.
"Plus the sirens were going off too," added employee Larry Jones. "We came in the store, locked it down and went to the cooler."
"We were in and out for about 20 minutes, just to make sure no customers were coming up," said Guiton.
Several people said there were tree limbs down and debris in the area, but officials said there was no major damage in the area.
