JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Police are searching for a man who robbed a Jonesboro store Sunday night at gunpoint.
Just before 9 p.m. a black man wearing a face mask and wielding a large silver handgun held up the Dollar General, 3619 Stadium Blvd., according to the initial incident report from Jonesboro police.
A store employee told police the man walked in, pointed the gun at her then motioned her over to the register.
She went over to the register, and when she reached into it, the suspect put the handgun on the counter and reached across.
"The suspect then began grabbing bills from the till," the report stated.
After getting the cash, police said the suspect exited the business and ran southbound from the store.
Police set up a perimeter and began a K9 track which led toward a gated apartment complex at the end of Glenn Place, the report said.
"As we were about to cross the creek separating us from the apartment complex, I noticed what appeared to be a fresh set of footprints leading down into the creek bank," Officer Ethan Sanderlin said. "K9 Flak then led me south across the creek and up the creek bank toward the north-westernmost part of the complex where we lost the track."
The suspect was described as being 18-22 years of age, 6' tall and weighing approximately 170 pounds.
Anyone with information on this crime should call Crimestoppers at 870-935-STOP (7867).
