Crash ties up afternoon traffic on Highway 49 near Goobertown

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 49 sent five people to the hospital.

The crash occurred just before 3 p.m. Monday at the intersection of County Road 792 near Goobertown.

According to Arkansas State Police on the scene, a Chevy Tahoe was stopped at the sign on 792 when a Trailblazer turning off Hwy. 49 hit it.

Four people were in each vehicle, for a total of 8 people. Five people were taken to local hospitals with unspecified injuries.

ASP officers on the scene said all of the crash victims were conscious.

Southbound traffic was reduced to one lane, backing up traffic.

The Brookland Fire Department, along with the Craighead County Sheriff's Office, assisted ASP.
