Two arrested on drug charges after passing out in car

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KAIT) - Poplar Bluff police arrested two men after finding them passed out in a car in front of a house.

According to Captain David Sutton with Poplar Bluff police, officers were called to a home in the 700-block of Dewey Street.

Police found Sterling Marshall, 34, and Anthony Thompson, 43, were found in a silver 2009 Chevy Trail Blazer unconscious.

When an officer spoke with Marshall, he saw what appeared to be loose marijuana in his lap. He got out of the car at the officer's request, at which time the alleged marijuana, several blue pills, and several $100 bills fell onto the ground, police said.

Officers tried to take Marshall into custody, but he fought and tried to escape.

He was taken into custody after a short struggle.

A clear plastic bag with 12.3 grams of heroin was found in his sock as well.

Anthony Thompson was taken into custody after drug paraphernalia was found on him.

Marshall was booked into the Butler County Jail on possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, possession of synthetic cannaboid, resisting arrest, and 3rd-degree assault on a law enforcement officer charges.

Thompson was booked into the Butler County Jail on possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia charges. He was released pending a review by the Butler County Prosecuting Attorney.
