JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Two people were arrested Friday in connection with stealing merchandise from several stores, authorities said.

Officers were called to Burlington Coat Factory around 3:30 p.m. on Friday. A loss prevention worker told police two suspects, Auctavian D. Hurst, 21 and Natalie Barnes, 30, both of Jonesboro, left the store in a gray Hyundai Sonata.

Police pulled the car over and arrested the pair.

When police searched the car, they found several stolen items from different stores in the back seat, officers said.

Police were notified that Hurst did not have a valid driver's license and Barnes had a warrant through Jonesboro.

After being read her rights, Barnes told police she bought some of the items but the receipts were at his home and that the rest were stolen. She said Hurst stole the items, police said.

Hurst was also read his rights but did not speak with police.

Both Barnes and Hurst were taken to the Craighead County Detention Center.

Hurst was cited for driving without a driver's license and given a bond on $200. Barnes was cited with failure to appear and given a bond on $450. Both were given a court date of Dec. 19 on those charges. They were also arrested on suspicion of felony shoplifting and continuing criminal enterprise charges.
